Your Neighbor in the Desert

Hi — I'm Darwin, and I'm the person who answers when you call Desert Helping Hands. I live right here in Palm Desert, and I've spent more than 20 years working in technology, including nearly 13 years at Microsoft. I've seen it all — from enterprise systems to the printer that swears it's offline when it clearly isn't.

But here's what matters most to the people I help: I explain things in plain English, I go at your pace, and I never make you feel silly for asking. Most people just want their device to work without a lecture — and that's exactly what I'm here for.

I serve seniors, retirees, and families throughout Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, and the surrounding Coachella Valley communities.

"No jargon. No judgment. No surprise charges. Just patient, friendly help from a neighbor who knows his stuff."

Frequently Asked Questions

What area do you serve?
Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, and nearby Coachella Valley communities. Travel fees may apply for locations beyond our standard service radius — just ask when you call.
Do you need my passwords?
For your safety, we always ask you to enter your own passwords whenever possible. We never write them down or store them. If you want help managing passwords more easily, that's one of our add-on services.
What if you can't fix the problem?
We charge for time and work performed, not for guaranteed outcomes on failing hardware. Before we start, if a device looks too old or damaged to be worth the cost, we'll say so honestly — so you can decide. No surprises.
Can you help my parent if I'm not there?
Absolutely. With your parent's permission, we're happy to work one-on-one with them. We can also send a simple written summary to you or another family member afterward — just ask when you book.
How do I pay?
Payment is due at the end of the visit. We accept credit/debit cards, Zelle, personal check, and cash.
Do you handle viruses or malware?
The Scam Safety Checkup includes browser cleanup, removing suspicious software, and securing settings. For serious infections or ransomware, we'll diagnose the situation honestly and point you to the best next step — even if that means a specialist shop. We won't charge you to spin our wheels.
What if I just have a quick question?
Call or text us at (206) 406-6722. Quick questions are free. If it turns into something bigger, we'll let you know before charging anything.
